Yesterday, Today, Reinventing Standards

Bio

Andromeda studied Theater at The Boston Conservatory and Vocal Performance at Berklee College of Music. She was the last Raelette to sing background vocals for Ray Charles before she starred in Woody Allen’s Murder Mystery Blues off Broadway. Her talents then took her to Japan where she reigned as Queen of the Blues at Tokyo Disney for nearly two years. While there, she produced her first album Introducing Andromeda Turre, which parlayed into several years of touring in over 17 countries across Asia and Europe. After returning to the states, Andromeda joined the cast of the critically acclaimed show, Sleep No More and joined a then unknown band, Postmodern Jukebox, with which she did their first tour. Over the last 10 years, she has been an in demand backing vocalist at Saturday Night Live and performed in Michael Buble’s 2021 Christmas Special. Her original compositions have been used in film, television and video games around the world and she composed the score and 13 original songs for Lena: Lessons from a Lady, a musical about the life of Lena Horne at Baltimore Center Stage. Andromeda is highly sought after as performer and curator of bespoke music experiences for corporate private events. This year, she is proud to have curated the music for Aquila Theater's adaptation of The Great Gatsby, currently on national tour.

Growing up in a family of Jazz musicians, ANDROMEDA draws a lot from Jazz both as a vocalist and a composer. It’s a part of her heritage. But she’s also inspired by contemporary artists that she loves like Sting, Shirley Bassey, Seal, Annie Lennox, Jessie Ware, Laura Mvula and Sade. Through her own EMERGING, she has leaned into being a “multi-hyphenate” and embraced the various professional options she’s been blessed with. In addition to being a vocalist and composer, she created her educational program GROWING UP JAZZ. Having spent her life being raised in the Jazz community under the tutelage of icons of the industry like Dizzy Gillespie, Max Roach and Wynton Marsalis, the wealth of knowledge and gift of perspective she was granted, she feels obligated to share. Through Growing Up Jazz, she offers an often overlooked view of American History and an opportunity to discuss issues pertaining to Diversity, Equity and Inclusion in a creative way. This work has also lead her to offer DEI consulting, especially pertaining to the entertainment industry, as well currently holding the position of Chair of the DEI committee for her hometown of Bedford, NY.
